Since there has not been too much discussion on this list lately, I
bring you a question that has been on my mind from tome to time.

Do you use the main wheel size that Van's recommends or something else?

Kelly

I've stuck with the 15-6.00x6.

I have stuck with the standard and ran Dresser re-treads. It’s worked well for me, so I can’t really justify changing it.

Same here. 27 years and 1200+ hours with no regrets.

Interesting that only two replied, and stuck with Van's 15x6:00x6. I so
far have also stuck with that, but have thought about changing to
6:00x6. Cost is but one factor.

Same here, standard Van's for me.

I do know someone who used the same tires and wheels as a Bonanza. They
seemed HUGE compared to mine. Something about "just wanting more tire". K

I had a lot of problems with main wheel shimmy and switching to the larger standard sized 6.00x6 Dresser retreads improved things a lot. But I had to modify my already-fitted wheel pants to accommodate them by enlarging the hole the tires poke through, and relocating the axle mounting hole on the wheel pants to “twist” them slightly to avoid interference along the top. If I had to do it again, I would have done the wheel pants with this specifically in mind, as standard sized 6.00x6 tires are easier to come by. But it works in the end.

Stock size for me, but always a hard surfaced runway (so far).
