Europa Fly-In / Drive In
June 1,2 (Sat, Sun)

Thorsten Schilling has arranged this fly-in. It is an opportunity to meet up on the West Coast. The airport has a campground with showers. Airport information is available at https://www.airnav.com/airport/O22

Airfield Guide has photos of the campgrounds as well as an aerial view. Great reviews on AirNav.
Located in the heart of the California Mother Lode, Columbia is a living gold rush town featuring the largest collection of existing gold rush-era structures in California. Visiting is like traveling back in time to the sights, smells and sounds of a nineteenth century mining town. It’s only a 10 minute walk from the airport with restaurants and hotels if you don’t wish to camp by your plane.
There is no formal agenda, just a casual meet up. Fly or drive and share experiences, look at Europas, add some Passport points and enjoy the town! Europa expert Kim Prout resides in Columbia and is planning to attend.

Just a reminder about this coming weekend's fly-in. There should be several Europas in attendance.

Thorsten Schilling organized last weekend’s successful Europa fly-in at Columbia, CA. Four aircraft came.
Here are his notes:
Dave Anderson mono motorglider, the mini U2 probably the most flown long wing Europa in North America
Sam Purpura tri-gear XS
Thorsten Schilling mono XS
Kim Prout, N111EU, mono classic, the first Europa to fly in the US and the subject of the well known CAFÉ Report.
Derek Au came with a Grumman Tiger since his Europa is still in the builder stage.
Steve Giordano, even though he sold his Europa again since he was too tall for it, came by and wanted to meet the folks.
We almost forgot lunch on Saturday with all the great conversations we had.
We went to the old Western Downtown in Columbia and had supper at the St Charles Saloon.
Kim hosted us at his house looking over the airport for Dinner with a great Bavarian Bratwurst and Potato Salad which helped us to continue our great hangar talks.
